Stress-Free Travel
Around Vancouver

Whether you’re stopping in on the way to international destinations, or staying for a longer visit, there are almost endless things to do and see in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. Getting around and to the airport is stress-free, so rent a car, take a taxi, or travel like a local onboard the Skytrain.

Directions

Getting to the Hotel From YVR

Travelling to and from the Vancouver airport is simple, and robust transit and taxi or ride share networks make getting around the city a breeze.

Taxi or Rideshare

The Vancouver Airport has designated taxi and rideshare pick-up areas, which are located on Level 2 of the Domestic and International Arrivals terminals. All taxis offer the same flat rate depending on your final destination. Red Roof PLUS+ is located in the North Richmond Zone. Rideshare companies Uber and Lyft both operate in the Lower Mainland and pricing is determined in their respective apps at the time of booking.

Public Transportation

The Canada Line Skytrain is accessible from both Domestic and International terminals, and you can pay for your fare by contactless tap with all major credit cards, or purchase a ticket at one of the ticketing booths. Take the Canada Line to the Bridgeport Station, where you can either transfer to the 407 or 430 bus, take a taxi, or walk about 10 minutes to the hotel. For guests staying longer or planning on using transit repeatedly, purchasing a Day Pass or re-loadable Compass Card may be helpful.

Driving

All major car rental companies have a counter at the YVR terminal, making for convenient pick up and drop off of rental vehicles. We recommend that you reserve your rental in advance, as availability can become limited during busy tourist seasons. Members of Evo Car Share can also find available vehicles parked in the Park’N Fly lot or outside Templeton Station. The drive from YVR to Red Roof PLUS+ takes approximately 10 minutes, depending on traffic.

All taxis are regulated with metered rates and can be booked ahead using local company booking apps. Uber and Lyft can be booked and paid for through their respective apps. If you need a taxi called, or want more information about booking and paying for taxis, please ask the front desk staff who will be happy to assist you.

Public Transportation

The easiest way to get into the city from the hotel is by taking the Canada Line Skytrain. Take either the 407 or 430 bus, or walk about 10 minutes to the Bridgeport Station where you can ride the train to either the City Center or Waterfront Station, which leaves every 5 – 7 minutes during the day. The journey takes about 25 minutes. Public transit in Vancouver is a safe and reliable way to get around, with three Skytrain lines, the SeaBus, and an extensive network of buses.

Driving

Downtown Vancouver is only a 14 kilometer drive away, simply take highway 99N, Oak Street, or Highway 1A from Red Roof PLUS+. If you need to be at your destination by a specific time, we recommend you use Google Maps or similar navigation apps to determine a real-time estimate of travel time as it can range depending on the time of day and traffic disruptions. Parking in the city is straightforward with metered on-street parking, city-run parkades, and private parkades all within close proximity to major attractions. For added payment convenience, download the HotSpot or PayByPhone apps.
